Fun in the Pool

The challenge at SWAT (Scrap Warriors Advanced Training) is Hot Fun in the Summertime.
And what could be more fun in the summertime than swimming at the pool and staying cool.
That is just what I got to do with Kai and Koda and Mylan last weekend when we went to
visit them in Texas.   The pool was just the right place to be in the Texas heat.

Boys Rule Scrapbook Kit - June sketch challenge

I really liked working with this sketch and will use it again.    The few times I have scrapped pictures on an angle I have really really liked the look of it.
So I was very excited to start working with this sketch.

Bryce playing Catch

I love this picture of my Grandson Bryce.  You can see him concentrating on the ball in the air and making the "catch"
I used the new June layout sketch at  www.artfuldelight.blogspot. com
The circles in the layout were perfect for this and I used paper pieced baseball as the two circles as embellishments.  I've been hoarding this piece of background paper for quite awhile now so I'm happy I finally found the right layout to use it with.

I love summer --- Beach challenge at The Paper Girls

The June 3rd challenge at The Paper Girls challenge blog was "The Beach"   Well the grandkids had just been to Florida for a long Memorial Day trip so one of the pictures they sent me was this one of them playing in the sand on the beach.    So PERFECT pic for this challenge and get me ready for Summer.

Frosted Designs - Things with Wings challenge

I have a new collection of Kathy Davis papers called Butterfly's Promise and had not used any of it today but new this would be a great challenge to pull out some of these papers.

I also inked 6 wood veneer butterflies to add to the layout for more embellishments.

Scrap Your Story Challenge #13 - Mixed Alphas

I loved the challenge at Scrap Your Story this last week.   I rarely even think about mixing the alphas in a title but when I do I really like the look of it.      These were pictures I took of my granddaughter Avery last week when she was visiting in Missouri at her cousins.   She had so much fun playing in the sand box and didn't even mind trying to eat some of the sand.

Christmas 1972

I've been trying to fill in Christmas layouts starting with my first Christmas.   I've been doing pretty good with it.   I found some pictures the other day from 1972 so got started with using one of them on this layout.     The Fabulous Friday Challenge at Frosted Designs was to use punches.   I used one scalloped punch over and over again behind my picture and then just a plain circle punch too.

WATCHING - LCOM #20

I made this layout today for the Let's Capture Our Memories sketch #20.   A nice a simple sketch
that really just lets the picture pop out.    I used a little misting (very rare for me to do) on the background paper too.    This is a picture of Jason back in 1978 when he was just one and watch his Dad and I play tennis.

Let's Capture Our Memories #19 sketch

I had these 4 old pictures of my Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary back in 1967 and
the first sketch for May at Let's Capture Our Memories blog was absolutely perfect to use for
these and the sure do capture the memory of that day.   I might have only been 16 at the time
but I remember all the relatives there and how beautiful the flowers and cake was for the party.
It was a great day and memory to now have in one of my scrapbook albums.

Red Carpet Studios #35 - Black Swan challente

I love the challenge this week at Red Carpet Studios for using Black as the prominent color.
I decided to even use a black and white photo of me and my Dad and my brother when he was 7 wks old.       I think the black and white look is just so classic.

Save the Date --- Scrap Your Story Challenge #10 FAVORITES

What mother doesn't have FAVORITE dreams of her daughters wedding.
It's exactly a year away, but I'm already able to start some layouts.  Last weekend Leslie and Jason
went to the location where their wedding will be and took some pictures to choose from for what they will be using on the save the date cards they will send out in the months to come.    These were two of
my FAVORITE pictures that they took and decided to just make a layout from them today.
Of course will be another layout when they actually send the cards out and choose their FAVORITE picture, but I couldn't wait to get started on what will be their wedding album.

Easter 1978

The challenge at Scrap Your Story this week is about journaling.    I keep telling myself I need to journal more about the story behind the pictures I scrap.   So with this one I did more.
Although the journaling just says that I know the picture was taken of Jason at Easter 1978.
And that I have no memory of what he was looking at when I snapped this picture but I just love
that look of surprise on his face.   Oh if I could just remember what he saw.

Boy's Rule April Sketch

Gibson's 2nd b'day was in January, we weren't there but got these pictures off FaceBook and hadn't scrapped them yet.    The April sketch from Boy's Rule worked perfectly for the pics so here is my layout.    Sure looks like Gibson was having fun.

Wild Kingdom

I used the great sketch #89 from Sketchablities to do this layout.    My grandkids and some friends were at their neighborhood park yesterday for the Wild Life on the Move exhibit.   I would have liked to have seen the bird but would have passed big time on being up close and personal.
I'm also entering this in my yahoo scrapbooking group    scrappin-n-chattin for one of the April monthly challenge to use a TV title as your layout title.   So these were perfect pictures to work for this.

Thank You Card for April sketch at Sampler Kit Club

When I finished my layout for the April sketch at www.samplerkitclub.blogspot.com
I decided to just go ahead and use some of the same paper that I had out and make a Thank You card.
Seems I can always use them and nothing could be easier since my supplies I used were mostly in front of me.    It was such a great sketch and one I can use over and over again in many different ways.

Help YourSelf

I found a great sketch today at  www.samplerkitclub.blogspot.com  for their April Challenge.
Couldn't resist scrapping this picture I got yesterday on Facebook of my Grandson.
He took the meaning  "Help Yourself" to a whole new level when at age 2 yrs and 3 months
got into the refrigerator on his own to have a snack of yougurt.

Mani-Pedi Time

I found these pictures on FB of Mylan taken last year.   They just describe my little diva granddaughter to a tee.    I used the April sketch at www.scrapourstash.blogspot.com       It might be hard to see but I did a triple faux stitching in white, red, white ink.    I pulled out an old old collection for this layout.

Kai Ice Skating

I made this layout today from a sketch in my yahoo scrapbooking group and for the "Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits" blog where the challenge is to use 5 patterned papers.    4 of the strips are patterned and the background paper is patterned.    I loved the challenge of combining the different patterns and also the fact that I got to clean out scraps for this from my scrap drawer.    Always good to know that
I save them and finally get to use them.

Side Trip to Gettysburg

Here is another layout from our trip to DC and area.    I made this layout for a combination of 3 challenges.     I started out using the April sketch at     www.granddivasscrappyplace.blogspot.com

Then for the challenge at   www.scrappinhappy.blogspot.com, the recipe was to use hand stitching, use a punch and used mixed alphas.     All of which I did.

Challenge #3 is at     www.devosmoomy.blogspot.com    and the challenge there was to add something that flies.

There were a total of 4 possible challenges and if you used at least 2 of them you are added in for drawing for a bonus prize.   I was really pleased that I managed to do 3 of the 4.

Library of Congress

Still working on layouts from our Road Trip Vacation to DC.   I'll be entering this for my 3rd entry of the travel challenge at "The Paper Girls Challenge blogspot.

http://thepapergirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2013/04/challenge-30-travel.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ThePaperGirlsChallengeBlog+%28The+Paper+Girls+Challenge+Blog%29&utm_content=Yahoo%21+Mail

We got to see so many great things while there.   This was the first time I had been inside the Library of Congress and to say it is beautiful is an understatement.
